Galaxy SII Review

The Galaxy SII is a remarkable phone, and the best on the market as of now in my opinion. I recently upgraded from a flip phone I got in 2008 to this phone, and it's largely better. This phone is a gaming phone, with its Dual-core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor and Mali-400MP GPU. I picked it up from AT&T for $200, and got an unlimited data plan for $5 more than a normal plan.

The Camera is a beautiful 8 MP camera, with a 3264x2448 pixels resolution. It amazes me how a camera that's smaller than 1 centimeter can take a picture that displays great on my 22" monitor (that's 1920x1080 pixels). Each picture is about 2-3 MB on the highest settings, and it has outstanding detail. The video is a little less impressive, but still gives 1080p @ 30fps

The Performance is outstanding, it's very (very!) responsive, has a very accurate touchscreen, and can handle games while taking no lag whatsoever. I had a slow Ipod 4th gen 32gig, and after getting my Galaxy I found out how shitty it really was. I'm very satisfied.

The Battery is pretty good, you'll get roughly 700 hours while in stand-by and 18 hours in talktime. For a beast phone, that's awesome.

I really love this phone and recommend it to anybody who has the money and will be using their phone a lot. I'm most impressed with the camera, but everything about this phone is perfected.

Grand Theft Auto 5 Announced!

Grand Theft Auto V has been announced!

Grand Theft Auto, the series that sets a standard for Sandbox games and has sold over 114 million units as of September 2011, has just been announced a 5th installment. When visiting the website http://www.rockstargames.com/, you will see the above picture, which says on the bottom "Trailer 11.02.11". On November 2nd, one day after Uncharted 3 is release, we will be shown the new median of the sandbox genre.

Looking at the image, you can see the roman numeric "V" is green, and surrounded by ribbon. Could this symbolize a $5 dollar bill?

Ribbons on a green dollar bill

If this is true, then this GTA5 may have money as a central focus.

Will this game have graphics better than GTAIV with the IceNHancer mod?

Is money a central focus?

Will concepts from recent Rockstar games be implemented?

As more information is released, it will all be posted and analyzed here!

Grand Theft Auto 4 IceHancer Mod

Hello Gamers!

GTA 4 is beautiful already, even though it was released 3 years ago. Since release, many modders in the community have pimped out the game, one of my favorites is a texture pack called IceHancer. This revamps all of the graphics and textures of the game and makes it look very modern. Check out these pictures!

Grand Theft Auto - Happy Anniversary

Hello gamers! Lately I've been slacking on writing new posts and my recent blog views are proof of that. This is because my computer has recently fried, and has been sent back for replacements. Currently I'm writing this on a 8 y/o computer which apparently can't load a page within 10 seconds. Anyways, I'm going to start writing again.

Happy Birthday GTA III!

On October 22, 2001, Grand Theft Auto 3 was shipped and put into Playstation 2's and Xbox's old mouths. This GTA revolutionized how sandbox games were thought of. Happy birthday!

Battlefield 3: Caspian Border Review

Hello Gamers!

CASPIAN BORDER IS BACK! On the PC version of the BETA, Caspian Border has been brought back to servers 8 days after it being taken off. I played it on the 29th, but not for long and thus couldn't give much of a review. Now, after playing it, I can.

The Good:

This map is what Battlefield is all about; Vehicles, open area, and teamwork. The map is very big, and the boundaries are expanded in the air for the jets. There are a million things going on at once, specifically with the PC version which has 32vs32 games. All the sounds you hear are made by other players, and it just sounds like a real war would sound. The whole atmosphere of the map is amazing and authentic.

Vehicles are strong, while not being titans. Jets can be taken down with 2-3 rockets from a Stinger, depending on both player's skill. Jets actually go faster than the rockets, so they can both escape or get hit by one. Tanks are big, but a few rockets and they're gone. Helicopters are good, but again a few rockets and it's down. Basically, they can rack up kills but they can still be destroyed by- you guessed it- a rocket. And the vehicles are very maneuverable and a blast to drive.

The destruction is also beautiful here, it really shines compared to Operation Metro.

The Bad:

Maybe it's just me, but I get lost a lot. It's a little hard to see where the flags are, and it takes a while to get there without a vehicle. Sometimes after walking for a few minutes you'll get there, only to die instantly. But again, maybe that's just me.

The map takes a while to load, but that's understandable for it's size. Still, hopefully they'll be able to make it faster.

The Ugly:

The squads are too small. Four players per squad, with 8 squads on one team, it just makes things a little tough.   A lot of times you'll only have one other person in your squad and they'll be sniping a mile away from an objective while you just want to get close and blow everything up, so you have to decide between him and another spawn. Having a 6-man squad in a 30vs30 instead of 32vs32 may even have better results.

The Verdict:

It was hard to write the Bad and Ugly sections, because the map is so awesome it's hard to complain about. Comparing this map to Operation Metro is like comparing a huge cake to a small cupcake. I hope the other 5 release maps are more like Caspian and less like Operation metro!

9.5/10
by the way, the blog's background is of screenshots I took while playing!

Battlefield 3 BETA

Hello Gamers!

The Battlefield 3 Beta has been out for three days now, and I'm going to say my thoughts now. Operation Metro, while being the obvious weaker map compared to Caspian Border, is still a fun map. This is a rather small map, but once you go into the subway station, it's loads of fun. There are many small tunnels and routes you can use for flanking, and a long tunnel where the subways are. The one thing about this map is that there are not many destructible areas. The most you can do is break some wood panels and knock the face off some walls. I think that they shouldn't have picked this map for a beta, instead a map with vehicles, fully destructible environments, and more open spaces.
